Luminaire-Aware Design Competition with IES Dallas

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Inspired by the popular IES LIGHTEN UP! Luminaire Competition, IES Dallas has partnered with ArchLIGHT Summit on a lightning fast luminaire design and build challenge pitting teams against one another to conceive and create a fixture on the spot. Armed with craft materials and tools, along with various light sources, you will be guided by leaders from IES Dallas as small groups design around the theme of sustainability, a tie-in with this year’s ArchLIGHT Summit art installation AWARE.

Participant timeline:
  • 11:30 - 12: Lunch provided
  • 12 - 12:30: Team meetups for project drafting
  • 12:30: Competition begins
All ArchLIGHT Summit attendees and exhibitors are welcome to watch this fast-paced exercise unfold in front of the Light Bites stage while IES Dallas President Dean Brockob gives the play by play. Everyone who signs up here will be assigned to a team to actively participate in the competition.

Following the event, the finished fixtures will be on display in the IES Dallas booth (#232) for judging by a panel of experts, plus there will be a People’s Choice winner as voted by ArchLIGHT Summit attendees during the remainder of the show. Prizes will be awarded to the winning teams, not mention bragging rights.
Note: If you sign up for this session, we will have a special lunch set aside for you starting at 11:30am in Trade Mart 2800 on the second floor (just up the rear escalators from the show floor). That will also be an opportunity for teams to huddle and strategize before the competition begins in front of the Light Bites stage at 12:30pm.
