IES TM-30 has been available since 2015 and has been subjected to rigorous review and experimentation. It is now an American National Standard (ANSI) document, and the underlying calculation framework is shared with CIE 224:2017.  TM-30 is now used in the WELL Building Standard, the United State Department of Defense Unified Facilities Criteria for Medical Facilities, the DLC Performance Standard v5.0, and ASHRAE 189.1. IES TM-30 did not initially provide recommendations on how the method should be used to specify color rendition. Such guidance is now provided in IES TM-30 Annex E, which is the focus of this presentation.

This presentation will explain how specifiers can use ANSI/IES TM-30 Annex E for specifying light source color rendition using a system that is easy to use and understand. We will review the Design Intents of Preference (P), Vividness (V), and Fidelity (F) and demonstrate light sources that fall into each category. The focus will be on selecting appropriate criteria for various applications and on TM-30 related deliverables at each phase of the design process. A live, immersive demonstration will be provided.
